Something I Do When I'm Stressed

I know it's old school, but still I love this hobby. I started back in middle school when we were asked to complete one for our homeroom project. From then on I learned to love this hobby. It gives me peace of mind, relaxes me and of course I find it fun especially the back stitching part. I am addicted to the Korean patterns I got from a friend. Simple projects like this one I posted can be finished in 2 weeks. About the size of a bond paper (11.5 X 8.5 inches). Hit me up if you want a copy of this pattern.

Oh, the cross stitching that I'm really bad at but very avid to see finished projects.
You've got a beautiful one Genn.
Keep it up!

No, it's never an old-school hobby. Quilting is to Americans as cross-stitching is to Filipinos. I guess it's something that we should be proud of. I've never learned it but would love to. It's one of my life frustration cuz I wasn't born with any needle-thread skill.

Nice! Never tried cross stitching but I do know how to sew simple skirts. :)

I also love cross-stitching! Back in high-school, I have 2 unfinished projects which my mom really gets mad of me then because she buys me materials and our dog ruined my work when it's almost 80% done

I haven't tried cross-stitching but I used to crochet. It was relaxing and fun, and I'm sure cross-stitching is also like that. :)

Cross stitching used to be my hobby. It was the best time-killer and it kept me wide awake during graveyard shifts.

I've never been good at cross stitching. It always appear so messed up that's why I admire people who can do intricate designs like this.:)

One of my favorite past time as well but its been a long while since I've touched my last project. Still have several unfinished ones and unframed. Framing is a bit expensive.

This is a very good thing to do in a spare time. When you're preoccupied in doing stitching, especially a very challenging one like a landscape, you'll be addicted to finish it. My late sister-in-law is very good in this hobby. She earns a lot of money for this.

When I'm stressed I will grab my camera and snap any subject I can think of, or grab a book and read. It's always good for us to escape from our own mind every now and then.. ;)

This hobby is indeed de-stressing. I do crochet because I have less patience for crossstitch.

My mom used to do cross-stiching years back and framed almost all of them. My wife used to do it before we got married though she couldn't do it anymore because of lack of time. ^_^

MissGennD said...

I haven't framed any of my works yet. Thanks for dropping by~

MissGennD said...

I know how to crochet too but just the basics. =)

MissGennD said...

I can only work on simple patterns or i'll get crazy na siguro if I do those blanket wide designs. =)

MissGennD said...

Airra, kaya favorite ko ung back-stitching part! kasi un ung huli diba? hihihi! Kaya malilit na projects lang ginagawa ko hinde nakakasawa gawin.

MissGennD said...

Wala pa akong nafraframe kahit isa iniipon ko pa para isang dalahan na lang sa shop. Hihihi~ Ako naman I order books jan. Wala na kasi dito available meron man un mga old school at lumang designs. I like working on precious moments, saka ung mga korean designs kagaya nito madali lang matapos. =)

MissGennD said...

Needs tons of patience for this kine of hobby especially those carpet like humongous projects. =)

MissGennD said...

So true Violy! If stressed gotta do that one thing that makes us happy and we're good!

MissGennD said...

with that said, I shall earn too soon! =)

MissGennD said...

I so agree with the cost of framing! Maybe that's why I haven't framed one yet. =)

MissGennD said...

I can't and won't do the more advanced patterns, the one with beads, sequins and other stuff in it. I'm just a beginner in this hobby~

MissGennD said...

Keeps my mind off stuff when I'm stitching... good thing especially if you are stressed. =)

MissGennD said...

I know basic crochet. I want to learn knitting! =)

MissGennD said...

I started in highschool too. It was just a project then I started to love the craft~

MissGennD said...

I'm sure you're good at something else. Maybe stitching isn't really your thing. =)

MissGennD said...

My love for this craft came off from my HS project. I am now learning how to sew as well~

MissGennD said...

I hope they are still teaching kids this hobby. It's so much fun especially with cute designs like this. =) You can maybe start on a simple project and see if you will like it. =)

MissGennD said...

It's so much fun looking at finished projects especially those huge ginormous ones! Thank you dear~

MissGennD said...

I am so into those korean designs. So addicting!

MissGennD said...

Babe baka nakaframe na! Lemme know if you want patterns I can send you some!

Good job on this!
I can hardly do cross-stitching because
I have poor eye sight but I love your work.

I tried this so many times, but I guess I don't have the dexterity and the patience for it. I am amazed and held in admiration though by the wonderful work people come up with needles and threads.
