PROJECT RENOVATION: Kitchen, Dinning & My Bedroom

Project renovation starts today and needs finish before July Ends. These are the photos I grabbed from google while doing my mood board. Here are some of the details for my renovation:

BEDROOM
-This room will just have a minor face lift.
~Repaint 1 wall that has been damaged and the paint is chipping already.
~Find a nice printed wallpaper and cover that newly painted wall.
~Have my ac framed with a nice cornice.
~Replace my queen sized bed with just a full one and ofcourse need to shop for new sheets. My Mom bought my 3-yr old bed (I bought it because my Mom likes it and when it arrived it was too big for my room and I have suffered 3-yrs of it's bulkiness already) so she decided to buy it from me since she really likes it.
~Replace my old A/C for it eats up power like a horse and my electricity bill costs me an arm and a leg monthly.

DINNING
-This area will get the slightest renovation of all.
~Cover 2 walls with either a printed fabric or wallpaper.
~Find a cheap chandelier for this area.
~Separate the mirror from my china cabinet and use it as an accent for my dinning area.

LIVING ROOM
-Just hafta purchase a new sofa.
~Basically I just need to rearrange furnitures in this area.

KITCHEN/MINI-BAR
-This one will eat the crap out of me for I need to bring 1 stupid wall down and turn it into a mini-bar/countertop. Plus I need to redesign cabinets for my little kitchen.
~Open up my kitchen by bringing down one wall and turn it into a mini bar.
~Find a whole slab of granite to fit my soon to be counter.
  ~Purchase 2 inexpensive high chairs.
~Decide on which tiles to use for the kitchen
~Purchase a good lighting fixture for the mini-bar.
~Design pantry cabinets that will be placed about 3ft from my sink and drawers for my utensils, plates, glasses, & cooking pans.
~Find an indoor clothesline that can fit in the higher areas of my kitchen.

Living in a small flat is a real challenge for designers to get the most our of it. I remember back in college in one of our major subjects, our finals was to create a scaled down miniature of a smallest living space possible for an average man (which is 6ft tall). There were no limitations for this project,  you can make a dinning area on top of your bathroom, everything can be super high-tech (touch screens, flat screens and the like), a bed on top of your sink/oven/dishwasher, really tested our imagination and creativity in designing. Everyone went gaga over this project, each team of 3 must outdo one another in quest for the highest grade of 4 (that's how our grading system was, most prolly you have an idea where I got my degree now). And to test what I've learned from the 4 glorious years of studying design, I am now challenging myself to redesign my flat according to my style, taste and standards.

I will post updates and photos of my said renovation. Send all the luck my way for I only have 2 months to conquer this challenge!

If you have any suggestions, ideas on where I can find the nicest granite in town, wallpapers like those I posted, a good brand of A/C which won't eat up much of my savings, anything that can help me achieve this renovation, please, please drop me a comment. Everything would be appreciated~

That's all for now! Happy June 1st!

@ Amber-Thanks a bunch~ Yup LOTSA work to do. My wall should be gone before June ends.

@ Leigh- I did some canvassing today and can't choose which should I get. I'm leaning on the yellow/gold/cream shades. Materials nowadays are too expensive~

Something I would like to do as well. We totally stopped house renovations when expenses shifted to buying milk and diapers :D Thanks for sharing your ideas. You had my mind kept thinking for now.

Having your own dream house isn't all fun. Mas mabusisi ka sa lahat ng bagay. Mas obsess ka sa paglilinis at magastos sobra. =( But the joy and happiness it brings is unexplainable. Start designing now para pagdating ng perfect time nakaplan ka na ahead! Thanks dear!

MissGennD said...

Write it all down, that's the first step. Then canvass and measure, make sure that everything should fit in. And always pay in cash it always brings down the price~ =)

It's just a pain to find the perfect stool for it, if you're really picky like me. =)
