Fashion School Diaries: Advance Fashion Illustration
RTW dress on the left was inspired by the couture gown on the right.
One of the exercises we need to master in this class. This is called collage, where in you try to create the clothes on your sketches with the materials available around. Anything but plain watercolor or markers.
The secret to create one is a strong glue, sharp scissors, fun & creativity.
I especially took just this subject this term so I can concentrate on it as much. I know, I suck in fashion illustration, so I really need to exert extra effort in perfecting my sketches. So far here are some of our exercises we were asked to finish in school. Different techniques, tips, finishing, and styles were taught and I think I improved so much compared to my basic illustrations. Here are some of my sketches from finished and some... oh well still a work in progress.
Beads and Sequins Illustration Technique |
Crochet, Animal Prints & Houndstooth |
Stripes, Glen Checks, Herringbone, Polka Dots Chekered, Leather & Denim |
Feathers, Peacock feather |
Patent Leather, Tassels, Brocade |
Right now I'm busy finishing my finals portfolio complete with flats, sketches, and specs.
That's it for my Fashion School Diaries update.

♥ the purple dress and the dresses on the last photo!!!! :) nice creations...
I would personally wear that lavander gown! ganda! =)
I especially like the purple/lavander one. Looks elegant to me. :) Parang mas nakaka-enhance din ng height, the way I see it. :)
wow ! these are awesome sketches and designs :O
i really like the first 2 photos :3
wish i could wear them someday :D
Wow! You really think that you suck in fashion illustration? I don't think so! If you saw my sketches then, then you'd probably start seeing yours as better creations. Hehe! I also took this subject back in college. I graduated in UP Diliman, with a BS Clothing Technology degree. How about you.. where are you studying now?
Wow very impressive! I love the black gown! Oh did I mention I was also smitten with the animal print gown? Cool! Keep up the good work!
One of my friend is mad on fashion designing, as I find your's it is impressive, and I like the black gown
I love the black and the pink and green gown. Do you need a model? I volunteeer! :D
ang galing mo talaga sis!!! pwede ba mag pagawa hihihi mmuah loveyew!
so in love with the first 2 designs! yan ang frustration ko eh...wish i have ur talent!
you're so talented! would love to see you post your portfolio too!!! be proud who knows someday you'll be a well known designer! galing!
nice drawings...I used to do fashion drawings when I was in the elementary grades. I was inclined to fine arts but my dad disagreed, so I became an MD. I wonder if that inclination is still there?
I have high respects to those who knew how to sketch and draw. I'm a frustrated designer though. I remember when I was in primary schools... I used to make dresses for my paper dolls.
nice sketches here, with lots of potential
Love your designs and choice of colors! :D I used to draw fashion illustrations too til I realized I like drawing portraits (with makeup for female ones). :P
Those were nice creations if you ask me. ^_^
nice drawings there :)
btw, i just noticed : you're an ID too ? :) are you practicing ?
your so good on your drawings - the post execution is effortless :)

@ April - thank you dear! Those first 2 ang hirap gawin~ hihihi!
@ Mai - Really UPD ka? Bow ako syo! =) I suck as in! kung makita mo lang un mga unang practice sketches ko parang paa un ginamit pagsketch! Sa help ng mga book and my teacher naayos ko naman kahit papaano. Sa FIP ako nag-aaral ngayon. =)

@ Yuu Ki - Babe it's now too late to develop this skill. You can start by scanning some illustration books. Frustration ko din to dati. I'd rather make a blue print or exploded isometric view but not human drawings! As in naiiyak na lang ako sa panget ng gawa ko. Pero if your really really like it you must find a way. =)
@ Merlmd - Thank you dear. I believe that inclination is still there somewhere, you just have to find it and enhance it. =)

Thank you so much dear! I can't wait to finish my folio na din. My mood board consists of Imelda Marcos and the Eiffel Tower. Sana nga someday I can't perfect this skill and be known. Haay... Someday... =)

Thank you so much for the inspiring words it goes to my emergency box full of inspirations. Whenever I feel down and about to give up I open that box and shower myself with those words of wisdom. It means a lot to me really.
You can actually use makeups in creating illustrations too~ Thanks babe!
Thank you so much for finding it nice. =)
Thank you babe. Yeah I finished ID as my major back in college. I never really practiced it but I am finding the skills useful and helpful with fashion designing, especially the Industrial part. LOLS~
Thank you dear. You are makin me blush! =)
Really babe? Super fun lang noh? I love course way better than my first one. Sketching relaxes and stresses me at the same time. Next subject would be sewing... Must paint my nails neon so I'd see them clearly. Scared of those hi-speed machines and needles~ Thank you for dropping by~ <3
ANG GANDA NG SKETCHES MO!!!! :) btw, are you attending fashion school, if so which one? :)
